A Serious Affair: Punishment for turning away from guidance after its clarification

 

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah (The Most High) said: ”O you who believe! Answer Allaah (by obeying Him) and (his) Messenger when he (the messenger) calls you to that which will give you life, and know that Allaah comes between a person and his heart.’’[8:24]

And amongst the statements of the mufassiroon mentioned by Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) about this ayah is that: ”If they turn away and delay in answering the call of Allaah and His Messenger, then they are not safe from Allaah coming between them and their hearts. And after that it will become impossible for them to answer the call, as a punishment for abandoning the truth after it has been made clear and manifest. So they become like (those mentioned) in the statement of Allaah: ”And We shall turn their hearts and their eyes away (from guidance), as they refuse to believe therein for the first time’ [8:110]
